1. The People Who Must Register as Aliens


A foreign national staying in Japan for more than 90 days is required to register at the local municipal hall within 90 days of entry to Japan.
If a child is born in Japan, they must be registered within 60 days of birth. Each  application must be made in person at Town Hall. For children under 16 years old, the child's parent, legal guardian or a member of the household is responsible.

If necessary, the National Health Insurance Certificate, Child Allowance, and the school of enrollment of the change.

Change of nationality or name (application for renewal of card also required).

Two Passport Photos (Not necessary for those under 16 years old)

Change of the Head of Household or Family Relationships.

If necessary, the National Health Insurance.

Reissue of Alien Registration Card

If the card is damaged , or You changed your name or nationality.

Two Passport Photos (Not necessary for those under 16)

Any time

Renewal (Card) of Alien Registration

Within a certain Period.

Two Passport Photos (Not necessary for those under 16)

Within 30 days after the date written on your Current Alien Registration Card.

 

3. Application for Certificate on Registered Matters


This certificate verifies registration and corresponds to the Japanese resident certificate (juminhyo).
Application for this certificate should be made in person or by a family member. If made by a representative or proxy, power of attorney or a letter assigning the right of representation is required.
